your pictures are as stunning and breathtaking as usual. that first picture almost doesn't look real it's so gorgeous! tougie is simply beautiful and a great subject to take pictures of as well! :)
Can't wait to hear the news! Good luck. That first picture is unbelievable. Love ALL of the photos...so beautiful. What a fun summer you had. I agree with Kelly. I wish we could hire you for a photo shoot :)
What beautiful photos...the colors are striking and you manage to catch Tougy in such striking moments. Looking forward to reading your news! Quaintance
Too many amazing pictures to comment on, seriously! But the one of Aila and Tougy on the swing is definitely a favorite along with too many others to name!
Okay, I had your blog up and had enlarged the first picture - the one with Tougy facing away from the camera, looking at mountains. It was the only picture on the computer screen. Zoe walked into the room, looked at the computer and said "Hi Tougy" to it. I asked her how could she know that it was a picture of Tougy (and I really mean, how on earth could she possibly recognize Tougy from that picture). Her response was "Daddy, don't be silly, of course it's Tougy". Silly me, indeed!
Now Zoe knows Tougy from pictures - of course - and met her in Nashville. Over 2-3 days, several months ago, now. But (given your comments in the Oct 18 post) how do they "know" each other that well? It is almost like some form of Kazakh communal conspiracy. Some sort of amazing connection amongst those of a common background? Because Zoe can readily recite trivia about her meetings with Leeza, Gigi, Rylie, Henry and so on. I don't know any way to account for this sense of community and its recollection. But I certainly do enjoy experiencing this part of their existence - that they do know each other and do share something special.
P.S. We loved the other pictures - finally we got to see Marshall's arms. And the pictures of Jude were a bonus, too.
P.P.S. You do realize that Tougy had her underwear on her head in one of those pictures, don't you? Is that part of the potty training process in your part of the world? :)
Aitugan is pronounced "eye""two""gone" with mild emphasis on the first syllable. Aitugan is Kazakh for "born under a new moon" and was the name given to her by her birthmother. We have chosen to keep the name Aitugan as we love the name, the meaning and the connection that it will maintain to her country of birth. Our adoption of Aitugan was finalized the eleventh of December 2007 when we finally left the Hope Astana Baby House as a family of three.
Meet Nurai
Nurai Alia Anson
Nurai is pronounced Nur (sounds like were) and "eye". Nurai is Kazakh for "shining light of the moon". This is the name that was given to her by her birth mother. We love the sound of Nurai's name as well as the meaning so have decided to keep her birth name. Similarly to Aitugan, we like that her name will remain a tie and tribute to her birth country. Our adoption was finalized on the eighth of December 2009 and we plan to return to Maine as a family of FOUR on the sixteenth of January 2010.
About Us - Kjersten and Steve
We have been married now for eight years (as of July 2009) and in many ways the time seems to have flown by. As we discussed starting a family we had to decide whether to start with adoption or a biological child. We have both known for many years that we wanted to adopt and we finally decided that adoption made the most sense for the start of our human family. Our daughters join us and our two furry and very friendly rottweilers (Bokar and Daouda).
